Dog with a bone... er?

My dog has a rather embarring problem. He's been neutered, but gets (disproportionately large) s on an almost nightly basis. He doesn't "do anything" with it, just stands there looking uncomfortable and sheepish! The vet has done tests and can't find anything wrong. Any ideas gratefully received.
