How can i recover my lost data in my pen drive?

One day when i plugged in my pen drive,it showed all the folders but wjth different names such as #%*^$#.And i cant open my folders now.Folders consists of files such as word, excel, notepad., tally etc.Pls help me.The data contains many much of my official work and many important doents.
