Im having a operation(GALL BLADDR REMOVAL) in 12 days ,and im quite nervous ,what can i do stop being scared ?
Is this your first operation? If so you will me unsure of what will happen. It is normal in UK to have a Pre-Op essment where you will be seen by a nurse & usually a doctor to check your general health. They will be happy to answer any questions & put your mind at rest. On the day of the operation you will normally be seen by the Consultant or a member of their team, discuss any concerns with them, also the Anaesthetist will come to see you, explain you are nervous as they may be able to give you a mild sedative. All the staff are there to help you through so don't be afraid to ask. Once you go to the Operating Theatre you will have the Anaesthetist & staff with you, once they administer the anaesthetic you will not know anything until you waken in the Recovery room, once you are ok they will transfer you back to the ward. Good Luck - try not too worry too much, remember hundreds of operations are done every day.
