Tape Adapter in Home Stereo?

I have a tape adapter for my Zen that works perfectly in my car. However, it doesn't seem to be working when I put it in the tape deck of my home stereo (an Aiwa stereo with 3 cd changer and two tape decks)...any help on how this could work?
