If a girl says she likes you then it can mean as a friend or she really likes you but....?

ok so im not shy but at the same time i cant talk to this girl without feeling like im going to freak her out.i need to think before i say something but i dont know what to say.well my friend new that i liked her and blurted it out in cl and she said(awww i like you to)in a nice way while smiling in front of the cl,but she tends to flirt once in a while at school.so what do you think?she likes me as a friend,shes just a flirt,or she just likes me?she had a boyfriend at that time but shes single now.i feel to scared to ask her out because you never know if shes dating another guy or if she might just be flirting.what do you think?
